WOYWW #217

I've been away for a couple of weeks during which time I switched my computer on only once and that was the day before coming home. I mainly use my phone these days but blogging from it does not allow me to link - at least if it does, I haven't found out how to do it yet. Anyway Julia, I'm here this week and if Blogger allows me, I should be able to link to your blog and Mr Linky. My little space has been cluttered these last 2 days while I made birthday cards. All cleared away so no-one can spy them this is it just now: The usual scissors etc but the keen eyed amongst you will spy my new Distress markers. I've used them already and they are super. I also found out that it's better to store Cosmic Shimmer glue on its side so I've had to shift a few things around to be able to do that. The flowers may or may not be used on a project I have yet to make but it was good to shake the dust off them. I finally found out the result of the skin biopsy I had 3 months previously - eczema!!!!!! (sp?) Why it took that long to tell me I don't know. Thank you for all the best wishes when I was waiting, it meant a lot because at it's height it had me worried. Right then, I can feel another card in the making so I had better crack on.

ATCs WITH ATTITUDE # 45 - SHAPE ONE SIDE

A new fortnight means a new challenge over at ATCs with Attitude. The theme is Shape one Side. Our sponsor is Robyns Fetish who are offering 5 digis to the winner. I chose 'Violet Red Hat' for my sample and came up with this: I must admit to using a colour wheel to pick complimentory colours but am glad I did because 'Tetrad' and Triad' are my new colouring words. The background has been made using distress stains, archival ink on delicate stamps and a bit of torn tissue tape. My shaped side came about by running card through my Big Shot over an 'on the edge' die. I re-sized the digi image to fit and coloured her with Copics. A bit of 3D foam a couple of heart gems and my sample was complete. Do join us because making ATCs can really be fun.

NOT MUCH RAIN HERE

I'm still in the NE and we haven't had much rain here at all. A bit fell through the night but the ground is dry this morning.
This little chap was happy to eat his breakfast
We always feed the birds wherever we are and Great Tits, Chaffinch and Robins have delighted us this trip. As for the seagull that gave me a shampoo in Whitby on Monday - I was certainly NOT delighted by him.
I hope your weather improves today, the sun is now shining here.

WHAT AN INCREDIBLE 2 DAYS

Sad now because I have just finished a weekend of craftiness with some amazing ladies all taught by our Hels.
This is my project from Saturdays class and this is from today
Oops this is on its side.
I am quite worn out after the fun of these last 2 days but wish it hadn't ended.
Safe journeys home no matter how far girls. Me, I'm here til next Thursday.

A DAY IN NEWCASTLE

Boy has it been hot today. Hubby and I decided to take the bus to Newcastle which believe me is a long trip especially as on the return journey the driver had to switch the engine off at one of the stops to let the engine cool down!!!! We never thought we would get back.
But sitting upstairs not only gave the best view of the surrounding area but all the windows were open so the breeze cooled us perfectly.
Taken under the Tyne bridge this view was spectacular. I love Newcastle. The people are friendly the shops are to die for and if you look past the unloved buildings the rest are amazing. Plus I went there rather a lot when I worked and actually enjoyed those days.
A few guitar shops just had to have a visit but thankfully no money changed hands in them this trip - phew!
We made it back and headed straight to the Talpore which is at the gates of the White Water CC.
That hit the spot as did the sirloin steak that followed.
Tomorrow is a pondering day so that will be nice before the excitement of the weekend. More on that next week.

WOYWW #215

I'm really late joining in with WOYWW this week but I'm on holiday not at home
Sweet peas from home, our 'naughty' monkey and my still to be opened craft bag is all to be seen in the space I use for crafting in the motor home.
I can't link this so I am sorry Julia. I'll see what I can do next week  - no promises though.

Have I got a special challenge for you this fortnight. Not only do we have an exciting theme for you to follow, but we also want to introduce you to our 3 new design Team members Margaret, Vicky and Norma Jean. These talented ladies have jumped at the chance to join us and thrown themselves in head first by producing amazing 1st time ATCs for us. Firstly though, many congratulations to our last challenge winners and many thanks to our sponsors for it too. This fortnight's sponsors are: Meljens who are offering 3 digis to the winner and Digi Darla who are offering 5 digis to the winner I chose Tropical Scene from Digi Darla. Unfortunately, since yesterday Blogger has decided not to let me post any photos or link any blogs or webs so here are the links you need to pop over to the challenge and maybe have a look at our sponsors shops: http://attitudewithatcs.blogspot.co.uk www.meljensdesigns.com www.digidarladesigns.com

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LITTLE 'WITCH'

Our youngest, my step daughter, has a birthday today. It's nearly a big one and boy am I counting the next 12 months down to it. So watch out little 'witch' - that's a pet name by the way.
I made her a canvas instead of a card so I hope she likes it.
She loves the Wizard of Oz so I decided to make her something on those lines too and came up with this:
I hung it on my wall just to take the photo. The large MDF heart and clock parts were from the MDF man at the Craft show I went to with the girls in Manchester. I cut the smaller ones from mount board using Alterations dies. Obviously it needed something to put it in so I bought a large heart papier mache box and decorated it.

Just some of the projects I have been unable to show in the past.

WOYWW #214

Good morning Julia and all the woyww followers.
I thought I would show my space from a different angle today so I went outside and took this photo through the window.
Not a brilliant photo but you get the best I could muster standing on my toes to reach. Not much activity in the craft department, it's been far too nice to stay inside, but I do have a couple of things to make before I pack up for my trip over to the NE and a workshop with Hels Sheridan. Can't wait for that. You can just make out a few blending tools hanging from the bottom of the tower of them which hangs from the ceiling - no room for them on that tiny work area you see. The folder is my records for my ATCs with Attitude challenge blog - come and join us every other Friday. actually this Friday sees another challenge launched and wait until you see the amaging DT samples this time - stunning. The paper is my growing list of things I have to do before Tuesday when we go away. The rest is the same as always, glue, distress inks, distress paints, printer etc. etc.
Tomorrow is a red letter day at long last. I actually get the results from the skin biopsy I had 3 months ago!!!! I've come to the conclusion that it can't have been anything sinister after all this time (6 months since I first saw the doctor) but then wondered if so why I have to go back to the dermatologist for the result. Anyway, no good bothering over something I don't know so I will just get on with today and that long 'to do' list.
Happy woyww everyone.

A MELTING DAY

Just look at these amazing samples.
Jewellery, toppers, canvases (including trick ones where the flowers drop off when you pick them up!!!!!), cat food labels, brooches, etc. etc.. All these were made by Hels Sheridan Hels Sheridan (sorry about the double name, the second one is a link to her blog, my Blogger is playing up and won't let me go back over any script so if I make a spelling error please ignore it).
Not only was it melting inside Inspirations, Preston, but it was 28deg outside and is due to top that today.
Fabulous catch up and very inspiring demonstration.

12 TAGS OR 2013 - JULY

First of all, Happy July 4th to everyone in America especially Tim and all his friends and family. Thank you once more for an exciting tag, one which the whole world can adapt and make their own just as I have:
I immediately thought of all our service Heroes and the incredible job they do or have done in the past. A subject close to my heart having had so many family in one service or the other.

However, have you ever tried to make a Union Jack? It's not easy believe me. I wanted to make a 3D version so that I could incorporate Tim's technique using distress crackle paint, which after all, formed a main part to this month's tag. I'm happy with the result:

A fitting little accolade to our special Heroes.

WOYWW #213

Good morning fellow woywwers where ever you may be. I'm in the soggy NW of England hoping that today will dry up a bit so I can go outside. Julia may also have some rain today but no doubt we will all be finding our way around to each other's space and having a sneak at all the craft desks.
I know I said the 'X' word but I have a plan this year to make cards each month or thereabouts so I can also make little hand made presents for my best buddies. Some of you may remember I was crafting outside in the sunshine and had some papier mache letters on the table. Many of you were intrigued that I said they were for a Xmas card. I try to make something different each year for my hairdresser (she keeps every one and displays them throughout December in the salon) so this is the start of her 'card' for this year:
This is the front of the letters - Qube being the name of the salon and this is the back

I need to store them now but nearer the time I shall be mounting them on a base so that they stand up.
Nothing else on my work space because it's clear of clutter ready for the next project or DT piece. My challenge blog - ATCs with Attitude have taken on 3 new team members and they have been uploading their samples for the next challenge a week on Friday. I am blown away by the amazing ATCs they have made.
I had better think harder for mine from now on.
Just a little bit of happiness came my way this week, I booked Tim Holtz workshop at the end of August - woopee! but I also had to book another 5 days at the start of our holiday to accommodate it. Such a hard life sometimes.
Happy WOYWW everyone, Keep dry or cool whatever your weather and spare a thought for those in Arizona which has proved to be such a devastating tragedy.

THE ART OF FRIENDSHIP

I had a lovely surprise in the post the other day, it came out of the blue and gave me a lump in my throat. This is what arrived:
Isn't it great. Jilly, who made it, has been a good friend to me for a few years now despite the fact that we have only met a couple of times. She is practising with distress inks but I think she has no need to practise because she is truly talented already. Massive thanks once again.
Then last Saturday I was given this:
I admired this tag when I went to see the ever lovely Gez demo at the Craft Range in Burnley so she gave it to me. That mask is so lovely. Thank you Gez.
I've just noticed that this post is #1111. Wow but that's a lot of nattering!!
