ANOTHER FLOWER ATC

I hope you all had a lovely Easter break in the sunshine. I captured plenty of the warm sun at every opportunity, did some gardening - slowly, and had a BBQ with family. Sadly though, no eggs. I've never had an Easter egg since I was little - she waits for the ahs and sobs - maybe next year eh? Still, I'm lucky not to be a chocoholic, but give me a ton of salted peanuts any day!!! Actually though, I did have the odd glass of wine whilst sat in the sun. Odd being the operative word...............

Not sure whether I had one too many or the person who bottled it had.........
I made another ATC using some of the paper roses in my stash and did my usual trick of making the background, stamping with distress inks then trying to cover it with crackle paint. When will I ever learn that this doesn't work. Having said that, I stopped quickly and the result is ok this time.

THE CHALLENGE IS COMPLETED

Yes, I've completed my 12 chunky pages. What a marathon it's been. Some of the subjects were really hard for me with only a few that I was comfortable with, so I'm quite glad I've done it now.
The deadline was 15 March but that has now been extended by a month. With all the hospital unknowns just now plus Tim's workshop, I just had to plan my time and stick to the original deadline or I would never have completed the challenge. Once the date is up, I shall post piccies of my efforts but here is my page for starters.

My theme(s) for the book is January - December. She gave me February. I don't do Valentines so what better theme for February for me other than Tim's workshop.
I used several shades of brown DI on mountboard pre-cut with the brackets on - the - edge alterations die. I then splashed water over the surface and dried it all off. I then used a couple of stamps and green DI, peeled paint I think, plus a bit of scattered straw distress stickles. The letters are grungeboard covered with a mixture of gold and green paint dabbers. The picture in the frame is one advertising the event which I've simply put together using Tim's Ideology items. It's fastened to the letter 'a' but that's all allowing it to swing. The rest you can see.
It's a very simple page but looks ok in real life and as it's mine anyway, it's fine.
Well 'peg leg' has taken the motorhome to get the new awning bracket fitted. We have freezing fog this morning so the early start won't have gone down well. He goes for his pre-op tests prior to his hernia op, next Monday. When he had the tests for his knee op, he was told they last for 30 days, but these tests last 2 months so he should be ok for March.
My car has been diagnosed. We had to call the AA again - what a nice man! Anyway the plugs were arcing so the spark wasn't hitting the bits it should so we need new leads. Also, when I tried to start it the other day and it backfired, it blew the silencer apart so that has to be replaced. Nothing too costly after all. The parts are just over £50 and 'peg leg' can do it all. I feel like my arm has been chopped off without my little car so it will be magic when I get it back.

TIM'S 12 TAGS OF CHRISTMAS 2010 -#12

The final day. How quickly that came around.
I watched the videos on Tim's post today and realised the potential for the movers and shakers. How cool was the envelope trick then? Unfortunately, I don't possess any of the cut outs so today was another improvisation.

I used some of the Christmas stickers from the seasonal salvage sticker pad to cover a tag. No bauble die so I used the largest one from my grungeboard ready cut ones. I found the letters for the word Joy and arranged them on the bauble so I could draw around them in order to cut out a circle.
I then got messy with the fired brick DI before painting all the bits with rock candy distress crackle paint. Mine wouldn't crackle though, so out came the heat gun. However, instead of ending up with a vintage-like crackle, I ended up with red sticky toffee!!!! It finally dried enough to be able to do the ribbon, wire and letters thingy. Looks ok for a bodge up.
My trusty corners came into use again, though I think I've used them all now, and I cut the calendar from the lost and found stack. The cones were in my stash but the fir tree bits just happened to drop off my Xmas tree.....just at the right moment too!!!

I have loved every bit of these past 12 days, despite the bloomin' baubles and perfect pearls!! and am now eagerly looking forward to February and the chance of a life time workshop with the master himself.

I have completed tag no. 3. Sorry about the photo but I've taken it in artificial light.

Still waiting for the rock candy distress paint to come so I can complete tag 1 but I found some picket fence distress stickles yesterday at Dawn's.

Had a fabulous day with Sonia but I will tell you about that later as I want to include the odd photo or 2 and hubby has gone to the flying club and taken his camera with him. Also, I have had a really busy day today, my back is broken and I am so tired so going to sit down and watch tele.

Bye the way, I am really struggling with tag 4 because I don't have any of the major components. As I'm so tired I can't think of alternatives, so I'll leave that one 'til tomorrow.

I'VE STARTED MY TAGS

I've finally had the chance to start making my rendition of the Tim Holtz 12 tags of Christmas 2009.

Can't actually finish the first tag though as I am waiting delivery of some rock candy distress crackle paint, but I have completed the 2nd tag.
