SCD - ARCHES

This month, being a new one, also starts a new challenge over at Something Completely Different.

This months theme is ARCHES and week 1 is LACE.

The arches can be any shape and size making this challenge completely different to last month's, hence the meaning of the whole experience.  Now every time I hear or see the word 'lace, I immediately think of our CDs, Leather and Lace. It made life difficult for me, as if it wasn't hard enough!!!!, to come up with a way of interpreting those thoughts. Also, my mojo left me last week and only comes back for a few minutes at a time this week. Anyway, here is my arch.

I cut a piece of mountboard and then used Tim's plaque on the edge die to cut the top. That's my arch, for this week anyway. I then masked the middle and used pumice DI on the top splashed with water and stamped and clear embossed an Anna Griffin background on the lower half. I then used victorian velvet DI over this and ironed off the embossing. I struggled to photocopy the front of one of the CDs to print the words, but after 2 attempts managed to print words which would fit. I put glossy accents over the L to the word leather and rock candy stickles on the L on lace. The lace corner is an Anna Griffin one, the black lace is from my stash as are the black and heart brads. The little lines on the top part are from a Hero Arts frame stamp.

I'm not happy with the end result because I think the cut out words look just that, but for the life of me, I can't think what else to do. It's so annoying.

LILI OF THE VALLEY #55

I just had to make a card for this weeks LOTV challenge because I so want to win the prize. It's some gorgeous flowers. Have a look at the link in my sidebar for the details.
My LOTV stamps are mainly Christmas ones, so I thought I would make a start on my seasonal cards with this challenge.
The gorgeous papers are from Creative Imaginations as is the epoxy sentiment. The flowers are Prima apart from the little roses which I got from a wholesale store locally. The punched leaves are made using my new Martha Stewart oak leaf punch - been after that punch for ages and managed to get one last Saturday. I coloured the LOTV image with Copics and added some icicle stickles for snow. Lastly, the ribbon is from Anna Griffin.
I enjoyed making this card and it will go to someone very special at Christmas.

ROSES

This weeks challenge from Sunday Stampers is Roses. Pop over to their blog for details: http://pinkleart.blogspot.com/

Here is my entry. I chose a pink A5 base which I covered with K & Co paper. The stamped image is a gorgeous one I received last week from an image swap which I simply coloured with watercolour pencils before using Antique Linen distress ink to age it a bit. The ribbon is from Anna Griffin, the peeloff is coloured with alcohol ink and the little butterfly is from some charms I bought from Courtyard Crafts just outside Poole in Dorset.

It made a change to make a vintage style card and I enjoyed doing it.

RELAX

We printed this photo on the cheapest photo paper we could find in order to try a new printer. Although the paper is not thick enough for photos destined to be handled, it works really well for scrapbooks.

I started with one of the blank white 12x12 papers that come with a scrapbook and attached a Tim Holtz stencil to the lower edge. Using 4 different distress ink pads, I 'distressed' the whole page. The stencil has left a lovely white impression. I then simply stuck the photo down and added the flowers and lace. The word is from some Anna Griffin embellishments which I coloured with distress ink.
